ZSL London Zoo presents Zoo Lates

London Zoo’s wildest event Zoo Lates, will be opening it doors after hours tonight to give ten of thousands of people a Friday night with a difference. Taking place every Friday throughout June and July, visitors will watch the Zoo come alive and that’s before unwinding at the bar.

Zoo Lates has been described as the classic English Garden Party, and aside from the exotic animals in the zoo, the event is held on the main lawns themed with quintessential British trimmings. There’ll be Pimms, gin and tonics, and picnics by the king of the chef jungle, Gordon Ramsay. For visitors who didn’t book in advance for the Ramsay hamper, the champagne tent, a brochette BBQ and lashings of Strawberries and cream will stop the masses returning to their savage pasts and hunting down each other.

Curious to see what photo experience they’ve chose to fit the Zoo Lates backdrop? There could only be one really…

Crazy Monkey Taxi at Zoo Late

It’s the classic London Black Taxi like you’ve never seen it before. A psychedelic urban jungle transformation with hand-sprayed monkeys, frogs, flowers and ferns covering the exterior and dangling crystal style chandeliers, a wild selection of props, flowers and astroturf completing the inside.

If the visitors can pull themselves away from our jungle retreat, there will a Tiger Bar, an Asian inspired area in between tigers, lions and acoustic performers – tigers, lions and an acoustic performer, would make a great band name

The Penguins will be dishing out a number of mouthwatering summer cocktails including Mojitos, Cairpirinhas and Cosmopolitans at the Penguin Beach exhibit. Oh wait, it’s the Penguin Beach Bar not the Penguins making the cocktails – we recommend not asking the Penguins for a cocktail…

If that’s not enough, there will be an array of taste bud tingling international cuisines from Lates on a Plate street food festival, the Outback Australian exhibit featuring emus and wallabies at the Aussie Bush Bash Bar and Twisted Cabaret at the Amphitheatre.

Where can you find us?

We’ll be opposite the silent disco, so we recommend, after having a disco in your head and losing all your inhibitions, to put down your headphones and join us for a special Zoo Lates memento.
