Bespoke Hashtag Printing for the new Volkswagen Caravelle Seaside Tour
To promote the new Volkswagen Caravelle Generation Six, the German automotive manufacturer created an experiential tour with a personalised hashtag printing station. The promotional tour saw the stylish new people carrier travel across the UK to popular seaside locations.
The iconic VW Campervan has one again reinvented itself with the new limited edition Generation Six. The Generation Six pays a clear visual tribute to its roots with a fresh, new design and a distinctive two tone paint finish reminiscent of the original VW camper.
The 10 day tour stopped at seaside locations across the South West of England. The tour kicked off at the Bournemouth Air Festival before heading to tourist hot spots including Falmouth, Saunton, Sands and Padstow. The road trip was set out to promote the new Caravelle at seaside locations where camper vans consistently play an important role for tourists choosing to stay in UK or mainland Europe for their holidays. The promotional tour encouraged passers by to explore the newest VW Transporter and grab a souvenir photo by uploading their Caravelle moment to Instagram and Twitter with #CaravelleOnTour. The printing station and print outs were personalised with the VW Caravelle branding.
The Caravelle has long been a popular choice for those in the music industry, from Take That to Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Chris de Burgh, they’ve all opted for the Caravelle for their nationwide tours. Gary Barlow, lead singer of Take That, commented: ‘We love the Caravelle. It’s comfortable when we’re travelling and even with the four of us, it’s really spacious.’
Apart from being the chosen vehicle for celebrities, the VW Caravelle is equally at home as a spacious family vehicle or luxury chauffeur service.
The Caravelle Generation Six is currently only available in the two-tone Cherry Red and Candy White. For many other cars the bold paint scheme would limit it’s appeal, however we think the two tone harks back to the more fun and eccentric VW campers during the height of their popularity in the 1950s and 1960s.
