The Wick Festival, curated by Kubicle and Project Sound with Cre-8 Lifestyle kicks off on 23rd August
The Wick Festival is a brand new weekly Saturday market located in the heart of Hackney Wick’s thriving creative scene and is set to be an outdoor immersive marketplace with high-end vintage fashion, gourmet food shacks and art installations. As night falls, the crowd will move inside to the dance floor where the soundtrack will be cosmic disco, house and techno. And if that gets too much, you can unwind at the beach or dip into the hot tub… yeah that’s right there’s a beach and a hot tub at a market in the heart of East London! But before you jump into the hot tub, slip into our flower power Beetle to take home the perfect little memento from the day.
A whole host of young designers will be showcasing at The Wick including The Gypset Diary, Lucy in Disguise, Pieces of 8 Jewellery, Dancing Leopard, Puckoo Couture, Mona Swimwear, Glitter Masque and Love Specs Charity. The Pizza Surgery, xxx, and xxx, with cocktails from the resident Tiki bar, plus purveyors of quality ales and liquor, complete the sumptuous food and drink options at The Wick.
Kubicle resident Luca Cazel will be releasing his EP ‘Mariri’ on Crosstown Rebels with an exclusive preview at The Wick Festival on 23rd August. The emerging star has already been championed by Pete Tong, worked with Hot Natured, secured a residency at DC10, and collaborated with legends including Robert Owens and Roisin Murphy.
Liz Mendez and Sonia Anderson at Kubicle are no strangers to transforming derelict spaces in East London, having launched their underground club night Kubicle in the infamous Public Life back in 2005. The girls put their own infectious magic and attention to detail to every event and have garnered a fierce reputation for their intimate, fun-fuelled parties in the most unusual spaces. Their CV already includes events at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Burning Man to name a few.
With Cre-8 Space’s The Old Bath House, Project Sound and Kubicle joining allegiance they have big plans to develop something truly unique for the East London community.
Music, food, treats, drinks, dance, love, and laughs: The Wick Festival will be the one stop hotspot in East London, a bustling market by day and a party to remember by night.
