One Difference Celebrate 10 Years of Saving Lives #InstantHero
Like many great ideas One Difference was conceived in 2003 by a group of friends in a pub in London, more specifically The Slug and Lettuce in Wardour Street during the Grand National. The main objective of their conversation was highlighting the tragic reality that over one billion people in the world, at that time, had limited access to clean drinking water. After trying to absorb the devastation caused by contaminated water across Africa, the daytime drinks swiftly turned into evening drinks before the breakthrough was made and the concept of One Difference was born. A brand of bottled water with a difference – with all the profits helping to rebuild lives that have been affected by their water supply.
One of the heartbreaking case studies we discovered from researching the One Difference brand comes from Angola. After 40 years of conflict that left their country in tatters, the rebuild by their government after peace was restored ten years ago was to invest heavily in water and sanitation services. This sounds positive but the government prioritised in more populated areas leaving 94% of households living in poverty with no option but to use contaminated water. As a result of this, water related diseases have claimed thousands of lives every year particularly young children.
10 years on and now the UK’s leading ethical bottled water brand, the One Difference team has remained true to their word by donating 100% of their profits to fund life-changing projects in Africa.
To celebrate their 10 year anniversary and raising a whopping £10 million, the One Difference #InstantHero launch party took place on the grand http://www.silverfleet.co.uk/our-venues/the-silver-sturgeon” target=”_blank”>Silver Sturgeon yacht on the Tuesday 5th May. As it sailed up and down the Thames, we offered the One Difference suppliers an opportunity to become an #InstantHero with our branded interactive pod. The photobooth was customised head to toe in the One Difference campaign, offering a unique interactive service with customised on screen props and backdrop. Guests could share their picture by email and social media before taking home a copy for free.
